Guest guest
Namaste. I heard this verse often recited by Jagadguru Sri Kripaluji Maharaj in his discourses explaining why being one of the five Jagadgurus he has not written any commentary on 'Brahma Sutra' unlike the other Jagadgurus: artho 'yam brahma-sutranam bharatartha-vinirnayah gayatri-bhasya-rupo 'sah vedartha-paribrmhitah grantho 'stadasa-sahasrah srimad-bhagavatabhidhah (Garuda Purana) "Containing eighteen thousand verses, the Bhagavata Maha Purana itself is the authorized commentary of Brahma-sutras. It is the purposeful conclusion of Mahabharata as well as the detailed explanation of gayatri-mantra and the essence of all Vedic literature." Srimad Bhagavatam being the authorized commentary of Brahma Sutra, hence, there is no point futher wasting time in writing another one. It is surprising to see why other Masters had written theirs even after they were aware of the fact given in Garuda Purana. Sri Maharaj ji further quotes the verse: sarva vedAnta sAraM hi zrI bhAgavatam iSyate tad rasAmRta tRptasya nAnyatrasvAd ratiH kvacit (Srimad Bhagavatam 12.13.15) The Glorious Bhagavatam is the QUINTESSENCE of ALL Scriptures and philosophies.... (Advaita, Visishata advaita, Dvaita-advaita, Dvaita, etc.,). The essence of ALL these philosophies given by the Jagadgurus is to ENGROSS the MIND in the Names, Forms, Pastimes, Qualities and Abodes of Lord Krishna. This will RESULT in the ATTAINMENT of Divine Love Bliss through God's Grace. The ECSTASY of Divine Love, eternally INCREASES through constant ASSOCIATION with the Names, Attributes, and Pastimes of the Lord. (as experienced by Sri Sukadeva Paramahamsa) Who ever has been satisfied with relishing the Immortalizing Nectar of Bhagagavata, will NOT ENJOY any other Scripture nor look for any other SOURCE of pleasure at any time! Sri Veda Vyasa has declared this in the beginnig it self: nigama-kalpa-taror galitaM phalaM zuka-mukhAd amRta-drava-samyutam pibata bhagavataM rasam Alayam muhur aho rasikA bhuvi bhAvukAH - Bhagavatam 1.1.3 Meaning- O ye Rasik devotees possessing a TASTE for DIVINE JOY! Srimad Bhagavatam is the FRUIT ESSENCE of the wish-yielding tree of Veda, dropped on earth from the mouth of (Parrot*) Sage Suka, and full of the NECTAR of Supreme Bliss. It is unmixed SWEETNESS (devoid of rind, seed or other superfluous matter). GO ON DRINKING this DIVINE NECTAR again and again till there is consciousness LEFT in you! * It is well-known truth that a fruit bit by a parrot is EXCEPTIONALLY sweet. There is a pun on the word 'Suka' in this verse, which also means a parrot. (Translation by C.L. Goswami, M.A.,& Sastri) The Bhagavatam is compared to a ripened fruit -- one that has neither skin nor a seed that need to be discarded. In other words, there is no aspect of this Bhagavatam that should be discarded; it is all rasa. Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu and His associates had concurred saying: bhktyA bhAgavataM grAhyaM na buddhyA na ca TIkayA The meaning of the Bhagavata is grasped only through bhakti, not by the intellect of mind and nor by clever commentary. This is even better said: zrI bhAgavata pIyUSa pAnAya rasa-lampatAH Jaya Sri Radhey! , pyari_h <no_reply> wrote: > Namaste. > Lord Krishna answered in Bhagavatam 11.14., when questioned by the > great jnani-devotee Uddhava about the various contradictions in the > philosophies derived from the Scriptures: > > "....
