Guest guest
When we truely understand and experience our paths, if we are grounded in pratice, no storm can uproot that essence. We can be firmly grounded, not by the loudness of our voice or th eeloquence of our pens, not by isolating ourselves into homogenous groups, but by sincerely and openly studying and practicing our field of study. I have not been interested in this aspect of our dharma so far. We humans get defensive when there is truth in a statement which we are uncomfortable with and the defensive reaction to this issue raised my curiosity. I Googled this topic and found the most horrendous quotations on this subject. When I asked someone about it, I was told that people want to discredit Hinduism and therefore it should not be discussed. This is an example of the problem that todays seekers face. We are afraid of facing truths, we are unwilling to look at the unattended dark rooms inside our own homes, which over the ages continue to gather dust, and cobwebs. If anyone tries to enter, they see the cobwebs as snakes and run, and get angry to divert the fears. Fears lead to defensive behavior, which in turn leads to aggrresive words and actions. This is Kaliyuga, fearful, hiding, hitting out to protect one's own fear. It has been stated that one's attitude is what is important, not what is said in texts. Yes, that's completly correct. There are many many who treat women very well, I personally have been priveleged. What is equally important, is that these texts are used by the abusers, and as long as we hide and are unwilling to look at the source, this will continue. "Fools walk where angels fear to tread." Perhaps I am the fool to trigger this discussion. _/\_ Tat twam asi Uma http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Pantheon/4789/Articles/Women/women_in_ vedas.html tatwamasi (10:52:02 PM): http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Pantheon/4789/Articles/Women/manu_and_ women.html tatwamasi (10:53:27 PM): http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Pantheon/4789/Articles/Women/Women_in_ IndoAryan_Societies.html tatwamasi (10:59:57 PM): http://www.themodernreligion.com/comparative/hindu/hindu_heretics4.htm l
Guest guest
Dear Tatwamasi, You are right Tatwamasi.......... But we should also understand that people ask questions which bothers them....Once their doubts are cleared they see things from different perspective.......from a better angle....But the problem is they ask right questions at wrong place......and mostly they get wrong answers..... I dont know why but there is a tendency of people not going to right Guru for answers....There is no harm in going to any Mahapurush and ask......Even though you have a Guru......you can go to other saint and ask them what is their opinion .......Guru is like a Doctor.....If you are not getting well, you can get advise from other doctor......After all you have made some one Guru to know right things? They find conflict in this......why?......because someone has told them you can not go to another Guru ,may be thats the reason...... I still request you and all to get Book called Philosophy of Divine Love written by Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj..........and read it..you will find all the quotation of Hindu scriptures and true meaning and logic behind ever thing ........ Give it a try, I am sure you wont have to ask another question to anyone.......You will find ever thing in that small and simple book..... If you dont know where to get it.......please let me know...I will courier it you....it is in Hindi and English....If you are getting Aastha and Sanskar channels there is a daily pravachans of Kripaluji Maharaj and Braj Parikari Deviji.......India time 6.15am to 7.15am and after that 7.15am to 8.15am and on Sanskar at 7.30pm from Monday to Saturday. USA: TV Asia (via DishNetwork) 8:00 am EST (Monday to Friday) 10:00 am EST (Saturday and Sunday) Aastha (via DirecTV) 7:00 & 10:00 am EST (Monday to Friday You can hear short speeches on www.jkp.org or www.barsanadham.org in speech section.. who_make_sense Tatwamasi <tatwamasi wrote: When we truely understand and experience our paths, if we are grounded in pratice, no storm can uproot that essence. Guest guest
Respected tatwamasi and beirut ki baba, Thank you for your interest in the portions quoted by you from the scriptures. I would suggest that the scholars researching on the subjects may be consulted for the sake of research on the subject. When I was a student and was reading Vedas my Sanskrit Teacher Prof. Janaki Nath Shastri advised me to act like a Swan i.e only to drink the milk leaving the water. We feel Vedas was not written by a single person and many things from day to day happenings crept in besides the topics of spiritualism /sadhana. Once a friend of mine said even researching with sex is kind of sadhana. But I think we should not speak out. As when a father arrange for the marriage of his son he knows why he is arranging the marriage but he never discusses the involvement of sex with him. I also thank babaji for presenting the parable of his guruji on the topic hope to hear more. With regards. jyotishguru I just walk , "Tatwamasi" <tatwamasi> wrote: > > > When we truely understand and experience our paths, if we are > grounded in pratice, no storm can uproot that essence.
