They have been mixed with different texts. No this is not to discredit the Vedic values, but perhaps to spread some someone's own ideas. Veda if you have studied mainly deal with our living in the physical plane and for betterment of next plane. Most of the hymns of Vedas are only to get you 1000 sons, land wives...or to get you to heaven. I can say as much as 90% of the Vedas are useless for a person who is aspiring for the highest truth. It is only 18 shlokas of the last part of Rigveda (vedanta) which indicates towards the real Truth. Shri Krishna has underlined the futility of Vedic knowledge for a seeker of Truth. In chapter 2 shloka 44&45 Shri Krishna clear tells that Vedic knowledge is Only For Three gunas and can not lead to Moksha. It is on those 18 shlokas of rigveda, that 1800 Upanishdas were written to explain the meaning of those mystic mantras, out of which a few are only available. 2 The quotes are accurate, Our scriputures are full of contradictions, because they are not written by one person. May be a particular quote was valid then (5000 years ago) and is uselss now. The seekers of truth do not go strictly by books...they read books for guidance only, and what ever does not suit them they leave it. Truth Can not be read, it cant be understood...it cant be implanted in our brain by any guru or any Avtaar. Truth has to be found by us....we seek Truth and Become Truth...rest all is journey be it straight or spiral Baba
