Kriyas as you might have read in "Autobiography of a Yogi" is a

collection of certain Tantrik and yogic exercise to awaken the

Kundalini and attain Moksha. The Kriyas are highly secret and are

passed on from an authenticated Guru only to his chelas. It is

forbidden to discuss them on public boards.

However there are some soft kriyas, which do not lead to Moksha but

start the process of cleansing and kundalini awkening. These are not

so much of secret and can be done by anyone even a beginner.

Like the the Kriya of chakra breathing has a very fast effect. But

before that one should do the kriya of opening the chakra.. in this

Kriya one sits in a posture and starts concentrating on each chakra

starting from Muladhara to crown. concentrating of each chakra and

repeating its name mentally for 5/6 times and then moving on the next

chakra... then we can start chakra breathing which is nothing but

concentrating on a chakra and feeling as if we are inhaling and

exhaling from the centre of that chakra. There are some other soft

kriyas but one has to start from these two ....put some time and

effort into this.

Another thing is that we do not chose Kriyas...Kriyas chose

us...so if we are destined to do Kriya they will search for us.

We have to undertake long journey from misunderstanding to

understanding, from understanding to wisdom, and from wisdom to

Ritambhar Pragaya (Fully illumined mind)

Though there are many chakras in the body, Seven main chakras are

important for Yoga. We may get tons of information on chakras on the

net, so i will only elaborate a little about them here to save space.

Muladhara chakra - responsible for re-incarnation, old memories,

basic instincts like prservance of body etc.

Swadhisthana - behind the genitals responsible for violence, wars

reproduction etc

Manipura - Naval chakra resonsible for upkeep of body.place for fine

arts, jealousy,greed, satisfication etc

Anahata - heart chakra responsible for hate and love, fine

feelings,love/hatreed for humanity, emotional turmoils,illogical

feelings

Vishuddhi -throat responsible for voice, seat of Vaikhari Vani.

concerned with Out of Body experiences, Astral travles, dreams etc.

responsible for Vak siddhi(wat ever one says becomes truth)

Agya chakra - between eye brows at forehead responsible for control

of prana in all chakras and in the body. connected with Vision, lucid

dreams, astral travels, control of emotions and thoughts, impressing

others, leadership qualities

Sahasradhara -crown chakra king of all chakras as all chakras are in

it. responsible for love for life/renunciation..seat of our real self

these chakras are not actually in the body but their

corresponding body centers are situated in the body.

Concentrating on each chakra, and focusing our attention on

them, purifies them and brings out negative energies from them, a pre-

condition for the Kundalini to travel upwards from Muladhara to crown

chakra
