Happy celebrations of Sri Ramanavami !

These verses are from the most popular, melodious bhajan-

'Sri Acyutashtakam', composed by Sri Adi Jagadguru Shankara Acarya

Bhagavatpada, in praise of his Beloved Lord:

rAkSasa kSobhitaH sItayA zobhito

daNDakAraNya bhU puNyatA kAraNaH,

lakSmaNen Anvito vAnaraiH sevito

'gastya sampUjito rAghavaH pAtu mAm

My eternal Protector is Ramacandra,

the Lord of Raghu Dynasty.

He has successfully tormented

the evil demoniac forces on the earth.

His charm has been rendered more lovely by

the warm company of mother Sita Devi.

He has become the holy Source of

auspiciousness and fame even to

the wild forests of Dandaka!

He is always accompanied by

His beloved brother, Lakshmana.

He is selflessly served by the

dedicated souls belonging to the

less evolved monkey tribes, and

is fondly worshipped by the

liberated sages like Agastya!

Prayers for meditation from the 'dazAvatAra stotra' composed

by the Rasik Saint Sri Jayadeva Kaviraja in 'Gita Govindam':

vitarasi dikSu raNe dikpati kamanIyam,

dazamukha mauli baliM ramaNIyam,

kezava! dhRta rAma zarIra!

jaya jagadIza! hare!

As an opulent, desirable offering to the gods

who guard the ten directions of the world ,

O Lord, You have hurled the ten heads of

mighty Ravana in the victorius battle field.

O Lord of the Universe!

You are my Beloved Kesava,

Who has assumed the Divine Form

of Prince Ramacandra!

All Glories to You, O my Lord Hari!!

Sri Dasavatara Stotram - verse.7

janaka sutA kRta bUSaNa!

jita dUSaNa! e samara zamita daza kaNTha!

hare! jaya, jayadeva! hare!

O God of Victory!

O My Beloved Hari!

All glory to You!!

Having made the Divine Daughter of King Janaka,

Sitadevi as Your Own precious Adornment,

You have destroyed the ten-headed mighty demon,

Ravana in the battle defeating his general, Dooshana!

Jaya Sita Rama!

Jaya Sri Radhey!
