Makara Sankranti is the most auspicious day for the devotees of Lord

Ayyappa- January 14th. Darshan of Lord Ayyappa is considered to be a

great blessing.

Millions of devotees from all over the world visit the temple in

Sabarimalai, India.

Makara Sankranti is calculated according to solar

movements. It is an annual puja, always held on January 14th. Makara

refers to the Makara rashi. Sankranti means “to cross into.†This

event is marked by different celebrations all over India with various

customs such as bringing different sesame offerings to temples.
