Guest guest Posted November 18, 2004 Report Share Posted November 18, 2004 dear Bhaktas Further to my post on peace, i am giving here a very simple and very effective Pranayama which is a sure remedy of mental tension and other such disorders. There is nothing new in this technique as it has been well tested for centuries, but from my personal exp i would suggest this pranayama to all sadhaka particularly new sadhakas Anulom-Pratilom pranayama :- Sit in a comfortable posture. close your right nostril with thumb and inhale slowly at the count of 5. Now close your left nostril and exhale from right nostril to the count of 5, now inhale from right for 5 and close right nostril and exhale from left for same time, and again inhale from left and so on. The count of 5 is for beginners. One should continue this count for about a month and then increase count to 6 for next fortnight and then to 7 for next fortnight, thus increasing inhaling/exh one count extra every fortnight. What ever meditation your are doing just pre-fix this pranyama to your meditation and see the wonderful results yourself. Hari Aum PS our mental disturbances are due to imbalance of 3 gunas.
