Namaste to all members,

I feel ritual is a very good method to get focused and to develope good habits

that help us to unfold our inherent spirtual nature. Good habits lead to good

character, which brings good karma, which again elevates our being on to a

higher level of spiritual reality. Ritual is like a form of practice that molds

our mind and heart, like Hatha yoga molds our body and makes it fit for our mind

to realize the higher Truth, the Divine Spirit.

However I also feel that if we only perform rituals and don't do it as an act of

love coming from the heart, then it is not worth anything. Many people do lots

of rituals to show off in society, that they are cultivated. They do it with

pomp and invite lots of people. But this does not lead anywhere, when the heart

is not involved. Some even do rituals out of fear, which is also not good.

Ritual has to always be done with faith, love and reverence. Then we actually

attract the power of that ritual. It is closly connected to the law of

attraction. Only when we believe and have faith in what we do, then it is

powerful. Otherwise it is only a waste of time and money.

But when performed with love and faith the ritual is connected to the spirit.

The spirit is the resevior of love. It is omnipresent, omnipotent and

all-knowing. We can only connect to the Divine spirit through faith and love.

Then the ritual can help us to be stable in our sadhana and to be always

consciously connected to the Spirit. Then life is actually also "spi-ritual" and

our rituals are tuned to the wavelength of the Spirit, like a radio which is

tuned to a certain radio-station. So we need to always be intuned and ritual can

help us to achieve that. However it does not have to be a very complicated

ritual. The higher you get in spirituality, the simpler the rituals become. You

whole life is a ritual, an act of love to the Divine, truely spi-ritual.

If ritual is done without love and faith, then it is like a cage. You lock

yourself in your cage of rituals and are not free. But spiritual life has a lot

to do with freedom, which is not just merely egoistic.

Currenty it is the time of Diwali. (Diwali meaning a row of lights). Today is

also Narakachaturdashi, the day when Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasura.

Wish u all a very happy and blissful Deepavali! ... hope it will fill ur lives

with all the resplendent and effulgenge that exists and may the Lord's light

illumine ur paths and endeavours...

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudavaya,

Haripriya - Deepa
