Guest guest
Well, as I have stated in our past discussions on this subject, I am a person who believes in the power of ritual but does not believe in the power of religion. How is that possible? It is possible and not at all contradictory, if we are to be practical about spi-rituality. But how do we define spirituality? There are as many answers as there are people and as many aproaches as we could imagine. There have been some great souls though that have paved the way, that showed us methods of reaching spirituality that have prooved successful to them. In India, ritual has been very much condemned in the last century and there is a certain reason behind that. Many intellectuals and few gurus have come forth to preach that there is no worth in a ritual. Rituals, according to them, were created to enslave us by binding our intellect with a false blind faith. The only truth, they claimed, is in the soul, anything material is fake. The certain reason behind these condemnations is simple. The concept of ritual was born in India in the ancient times as a sadhana-tool of the great mother of yoga, tantra. As time erodes the earth, so does it erode teachings, truths and ideas until the eventually die. And the same thing happened with the tantric rituals. They formed the Hindu religion after many fake rituals were added to them. There is a vast difference between apocalyptic rituals, and man-made rituals. For some, a puja and a homa with the recitation of a certain mantra may be only a useless ritual. To others it might be a way to enter the realm of the spirit. We need not be absolute on anything, because there are many parameters on a subject such as the ritual that need to be taken into consideration.
