Guest guest
"Introducing the unique tantric meditation technique of Yoga Nidra, popularized by Swami Satyananda Saraswati of the Bihar School of Yoga Doctors, gurus and neighborhood do-gooders are all in the habit of prescribing relaxation as a remedy for taut nerves, work pressures and emotional upheavals. But very few know, or will tell you, how to accomplish the deceptively simple task of relaxing. Yoga Nidra seems to have the answer." The above is just a small part of an interesting article that can be found on this page http://www.yoga.com/ydc/enlighten/ enlighten_document.asp?ID=278§ion=6&cat=132 Yoga Nidra is certainly a very interesting and appealing technique to many. One of the reasons to that is because it is done lying! But the truth is that the techinique is becoming popular as its very efficient. It is said that yogic sleep can cure insomnia and lower a high blood pressure. Namaste Angela
Guest guest
Hi Angie Yoganidra is certainly a very powerful technique. While several schools teach it, I have personally learnt the Bihar school of Yoga technique and now all my family members use it including my teenage children. The important phenomena that is at work here is that when we ordinarily sleep, we do not get total rest. Our physical body may (or may not in cases of extreme stress) get some rest, but our minds are in constant activity. Again in extreme cases, one may find oneself waking up tired and exhausted. Unless our bodies are able to completely rest no healing can take place, leave alone any spiritual evolvement. This is where Yoganidra (and meditation) plays an important role. It not only involves relaxing each and every system of the body in a slow focused manner, but also allows the mind to be occupied with only ONE object, and lets all the energies converge on the single object of letting go. While we may think we are experts in multitasking, our minds are really designed to handle one thing at a time for peak performance. This practice therefore, trains the mind to focus on one thing at a time, deliberately relaxes the various parts of the body, and effectively allows the body's internal healer to do its job. It is a wonderful technique.. works "miracles" provided we practice daily and diligently. _/\_ Tat twam asi Uma , "Angela" <oiokasti@h...> wrote: > "Introducing the unique tantric meditation technique of Yoga Nidra, > popularized by Swami Satyananda Saraswati of the Bihar School of Yoga >
