Guest guest
Hare Krishna! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all Vaisnavas. Please accept my humble obeisances and blessings. I pray that this finds you well and in the service of Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga. The Temple of Tirumala-Triupati is the home of Lord Venkatesha. It is the custom that the most commone way of showing your devotion and gratitude to Lord Sri Venkatesha is offering your hair to Him. Individuals offer their hair to the Diety for many different reasons, such as, fulfilling a vow, expressing their gratitude for His blessings, etc. The hair is cut by Temple Barbers and is sold. 50% of the procets go to the Temple, and the other 50% is kept by the Barber. The hair is sold to wig makers around the world. Wether or not you consider the worship of Sri Venkatesha "idolitry" depends on your religious views.
