Guest guest
I am attending a series of lectures given by Swamini Seelanandaji (Acharya of Chinmayaranyam, Trikoot, Andhra Pradesh) from Chinmayananda Mission from India. I apologize for interupting the flow of thoughts going on at present ... just wanted to interject this for your contemplation! Swami Chinmayananada ji explained Happpiness through an interesting equation. No. of desires fulfilled Happiness = -------------------------- Total No. of desires. The premise of this model - People want permanent continuous, infinite Happiness, and they attempt to do so through satisfaction of desires for material objects (including relationships), each of which result in giving only temporary pleasure. Looking at this equation it seems evident - 1. Since Total desires is not a fixed number, and continues to increase with the satisfaction of desires, 100% satisfaction of desires seems unattainable; ie the denominator is constantly increasing. 2. Happiness = infinity ONLY if Denominator = 0 (math principle that anything divided by 0 equals infinity) Interesting presentation isn't it? _/\_ Tat twam asi Uma
Guest guest
To explain the meatphysical with a mathematical formula is impossible since where the physical sciences end there philosophy begins. This has also been pointed out by Swami Chinmayanand. Swamiji, in the Geeta tradition always tries to give examples and evidence to explain spirituality. The equation is undoubtedly awesome and one wishes one could become desireless. love Vivek , "Tatwamasi" <tatwamasi> wrote: > I am attending a series of lectures given by Swamini Seelanandaji > (Acharya of Chinmayaranyam, Trikoot, Andhra Pradesh) from > Chinmayananda Mission from India.
