Guest guest
Dear Respected Ajitsingh Ji: You said: >>Please don't mind my language and let me find answers here. Will you please write on Who is our Enemy <<<< I am glad to learn that you at least think that you may find some answers here. ??? Even when answers are close to you (in general or personally to you) that are hard to find and then realize them. It gets even harder to implement them. uddharedaatmanaa.a.atmaana.m naatmaanamavasaadayet . aatmaiva hyaatmano bandhuraatmaiva ripuraatmanaH .. giitaa 6\.5 .. ##Meaning - One has to salvate ourselves. One should ensure that they do not lower themselves. Your are your own enemy and your own friend.## na hinastyaatmanaatmaana.m tato yaati para.m gatim .. giitaa 13\.29 .. ##Meaning - One who does not harm himself goes to the higher goal.## Most interestingly, even the followers Buddha religion who do not believe in the existence of "aatmaa" or "prabrahmaa", still preach similar thoughts of salvation. attaa hi attano naatho attahi attano gati . tasmaa sa.n~nasaya.attaaNa.m assa.m bhadda.m va vaaNijo .. dhammapaada 380 .. ##Meaning - We are our own owners and no one else is going to help us salvate. Just like a treader takes care of his horse, thus we should take care of ourselves.## Although the term you appear to singular it must be interpreted as encompassing many. You - One Individual One - Individual Family One - Individual Community One - Individual Faith One - Individual Nation One - Human beings One - Universe Keep on perceiving "the individual ONE" as different only leads to separation and division but the salvation comes only when that "Individual one" realizes the similarity with "One". Therefore adavita is to be realized. There is no ----ism in advita. Just realization. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Namaste Ajit and other members, Every now and then we hear that we see the world as we are. 'Only if you have hatred, anger greed etc in you heart, will you see it in the world around you." However this may give rise the the question, " well i see a lot of evil in this world and a lot of evil done to me, but I didn't do anything like it, or have any feeling like what I am getting or seeing." Here what we need to remember is, we are the creators of our own karma. If we are destined to suffer something, we will suffer only that. If our tormentors torment us in some way, they will only to the extent we r supposed to suffer according to our karma. Maharshi said, : "Others are not responsible for what happens to us. They are only instruments for what would happen to us some way or other. Let us be strong in faith and not succumb to fear. Whatever happens, happens according to your prarabdha. Let it exhaust itself. Evil intentions and evil actions are natural to the evil-minded. But their evil will only turn back on themselves, and not affect us simply because they desire it. One is required not to think of oneself, so why should there be anxiety regarding others." Another thing to be noted is, what we get back may not be the exact thing we have in our heart. We may have it in hatred towards something else, and that hatred will take another shape and come back to us. For eg. If we throw a stone into sewage, the sewage water will splash on us. What you threw in was a stone, but what came back to you is sewage. Similarly our feelings may not come back to us in the same shape that we let it into this world. It will take a different shape when it comes back to us. That is what is meant by the enemy is within us. The real enemies are 'lust, anger, greed, pride, jealousy and hatred' that we have within us. We let these out in this world, and these very emotions take various shapes and come back to us. If we rid ourselves of these enemies, then there will nothing that we'll be letting into this world, and so there'll be nothing that will come back to us. If all we have is peace and love, then how can hatred and anger come back. This is illustrated in Ramanar's story that I narrated yesterday. The man came with dislike in his heart, but left the ashram with love. there are many more stories of ppl coming to his ashram with hatred in their hearts and leaving as His devotee !. However I can't possible narrate all the stories, for my post would become too long and tiring to read. Maharshi was so full of love and peace, that no matter what kind of energy came to him, it got transformed into love and peace! On another instance Maharshi said, "If one abuses another or injures him the remedy does not lie in retort or resistance. Simply keep quiet. This quiet will bring peace to the injured but make the offender restless until he is driven to admit his error to the injured party. " Here Maharshi talks of keeping the heart quiet, free from emotions like anger, hatred, jealousy and the kind. If we light a fire of love so great in our heart, the no matter what filth is dropped into it by other negative forces will only be burnt and purified. This is true not only with Maharshi but also in our daily life, even in our own club. You wrote, "I am also grateful to Dr.YADU for sincerely replying to my piercing questions without getting angered, or without passing judgements. I learnt a lot from him.", "I am grateful to Dr.Yadu, Radhakutir and SVCS whose answers (without rebuking me)were really worth taking note of." You accept that your questions are piercing, but Dr. Yadu and Radha Kutir didn't return the attitude. As you stated they answered without getting angry or without passing any judgement and without rebuking. This calmness of mind brings calmness to the agitated one too. However your agitation did come back to you in another form, when another member said that you are insulting our Gods. Your own agitation took another shape and came back toyou. This is what is meant by the world is as we are. And Dr. Yadu's and Radha Kutir's calm reaction is what is meant by, 'your peace and quiet will eventually bring peace and quiet to the aggitated mind." Hope this helps. Hari Aum !!! P.S. Dear Ajit, I need to thank you for bringing about such lovely duscussions. Also when I gave ur illustration above, it was meant merely for illustration purposes ONLY, and is NOT meant to decry your actions or offend you in any way. Guest guest
The only enemy is our Ignorance about our True Selves. Any thing else is a manifestation of that ignorance. It is because of our ignorance that we feel the need to act with anger, greed, resentment, jealousy etc., because we don't know any better! If we realized that there is only ONE, that all we see is merely a reflection of our own selves, then we no longer have anyone to get angry at; if we know we have the whole "world" at our fingertips, we have nothing to be jealous about, and if we know that we are "love" itself, we have nothing to resent; if we know that everything is in perfect harmoney, exactly the way it needs to be, then there is no place for anger or resentment towards anyone. All sadhana, no matter what the path, is geared towards removing this ignorance. This simple change in paradigm removes the only enemy we ever have. In fact its rather simple. So simple that we can't stand to accept it as it is; instead we complicate it with words and explanations, and then produce explanations of explanations! It's actually amusing when we think of it ... isn't it? Or perhaps I find it simple because I didn't get it yet!!! _/\_ Tat twam asi Uma
