Guest guest
Salutations to Thakur, Guru, and Ma! Gupta--"We have some glimpses of the Master's great love and devotion for his mother, Chandramani Devi. Said he, 'When I went to Vrindaban I did not want to return to Calcutta. I was very keen to stay there. But just then I remembered my mother. That completely changed everything. She was old. I said to myself, 'My devotion to God will come to nothing if I have to worry about my mother. I had rather live with her instead. Let me return and meditate there without any worry.' Sri Ramakrishna cited the example of Chaitanyadeva who promised his mother that if she did not permit, he would not leave her. But if permitted she would be able see him whenever she wanted it. Now the mother is not to be trifled with', said Sri Ramakrishna. Besides, who does not know the promise of Shankara to hi mother. Before going away as a sannyasi, he too promised her that he would be there with her at least at the time of her death.".
