Guest guest
Salutations to Thakur, Guru, and Ma! Gupta--"The charm and attraction that Sri Ramakrishna exercised on pure minds is directly due to the intensely human personality the Master possessed. Outwardly, he looked like such as ordinary man, a simple village priest, though not rigidly conventional. Yet his indrawn moods and the absolute purity and spontaneity with which words of spiritual wisdom fell from his lips never failed to catch the imagination of even the most learned of his visitors. Because of his innocent laughter and fun, and the unconventional and open-hearted way he met strangers, not many of the celebrities of the day were aware of the level of God-consciousness at which he lived--a level where hardly any worldly man can set foot." (Gupta, Dharm Pal. LIFE OF M. and SRI SRI RAMAKRISHNA KATHAMRITA. 314) Sri Ramakrishna--"During my boyhood the women and men of Kamarpukur were found of me. They loved to hear me sing. I could imitate others so well that they would enjoy seeing me do so. The senior women would put aside things for me to eat. No one distrusted me. Everyone took me in as one of the family. One or two young boys of the village were my close friends. I was very intimate with some of them, but now they are totally immersed in worldliness. A few of them visit me here now and then and say, 'Goodness ! He seems to be just the same as he was in the village school.' While I was at school, arithmetic would throw me into confusion, but I could paint very well and could also model small images of the deities. I loved to visit the free eating-places maintained for holy men and the poor, and would watch them for hours. I loved to hear the reading of the sacred books, such as the Ramayana and Bhagavata."
