Work and Its Secret

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If we examine our own lives, we find that the
greatest cause of sorrow is this; we take up something
put our whole energy to it and find, perhaps, that we
we have failed. We know that our continuing to cling
to it can only bring us misery; still we cannot tear
ourselves away from it. We find ourselves in the
position of the bee which came to suck honey and got
its feet stuck and could not extricate itself. This is
the fact of existence. We came here to suck honey, and
we find our hands and feet caught. We came to catch
and we are ourselves caught. We came to enjoy; we are
being enjoyed. We came to work; we are being worked.
This goes on all the time. We are being worked upon by
other minds while we struggle to work on our minds. We
want to get everything from nature, but we find in the
long run taht nature takes away everything from us,
depletes us, and casts us aside.
Therefore, says the Gita: Work constantly; work, but
be not attached; be not caught. Reserve unto yourself
the power of detaching yourself from everything,
however beloved, however much coveted, however great
the pangs of misery - reserve the power to leave it
whenever you want."
Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste.
"It is not you who shape God; it is God who shapes you.
If then you are the work of God, await the hand of the artist who
does all things in due season.
Offer the potter your soft tractable heart and
keep the form in which the artist has fashioned you.
Let your clay be moist lest you grow hard and lose the imprint
of the potter's fingers."
-St.Irenaeus
