Guest guest
Purohit JAya Tirtha ChAran dAsan New Zealand, jtcd 2002 Dec 04: Total Solar Eclipse The Vedic Perspective ===================== Hare Krishna! On my web page (mentioned below) there's clear definition as to what an eclipse is from the Krishna conscious perspective, also examples of what is to be done or not done; ie no cooking, eating, sleeping, no procreating children, etc as adverse effects will be experienced. In India even today, all temples close for the period of eclipses; no artis, no offerings, not even readings or pravachans are performed, simply kirtan of the Maha mantra Hare Krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare. As with the example at the time of Lord Chaitanya's appearance many who are fortunate to be near the Ganga or similar sacred rivers take shelter there and chant the maha-mantra. All food and water is stored out of the rays of the graha-grastha (eclipse) anything left out is discarded. Pregnant women should not see the eclipse as the negative effects harm the child in the womb, nor should they sew cloth or garlands, nor cut paper etc - Ayurved suggests that as Rahu himslf has a cleft lip (hair lip) that children in the womb can be so afflicted also. It is to be noted that the effects are prevailent on the entire planet irrespective of if we are in the direct zonal area experiencing such an eclipse. For more information see my page at: http://www.hknet.org.nz/eclipses-page.htm Software to simulate eclipses and for viewing world time zones similultaneously are available FREE to download from my page. I hope that you find this useful. Trusting this finds you well in every respect. I beg to remain, yours in the humble service of the Lord and His devotees.
