Guest guest
Uma, Shiva,Pyari.svca and all. I dare start a new subjectline. The tile is in vernaculer Punjabi dilect of India. It Means, "The truthfull persons are seen in this world ofeten suffering like a death sentence, while liers and blasphmiiers are found making meeriment and rejoicing in this world." My querry is:- 1.Why it is so, and 2.A honest Saadhak is very often than not, seen in "sufferings", and still preached unattachment. Guest guest
Satish, If I may, I'll offer my own personal take on this subject. Suffering only exists as long as we acknowlede that we are suffering. If we realize that we are not suffering, *then we are not*. If we are blissful upon taking a meager meal of only rice, then we *are* blissful. To a starving man, a meal of rice would be a happy time, be sure. If a man goes to work each day, doing some form of dirty work, and he is blissful knowing that he is doing his duty...then the man *is* blissful. What appears to you or I as suffering may, in fact, not be perceived as such all around. If the mind is not dwelling upon suffering or worldly pleasures of the senses, then we will realize no one is suffering if (s)he knows God. This is, of course, easier said than done. It takes practice. I feel that it is during the times of "practice" that we feel we are suffering. Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! I like to remember an old message in this regard: /message/3761 Though it is said" Dhukmay sumiran sub kare , sukh mein kare na koi ............" But in actual life, people who remember God constantly seem to suffer more than the people who remember God only when they are in trouble. We are yet to find an answer to the age old question " Why do bad things always happen to Good people?" Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste all. The answer can be found in the prayers of Queen Kunti devi, a great devotee of Lord, who had suffered all her life. "Salutations to Krishna born of Vasudeva and Devaki ! Salutations again and again to the Brahman of the Upanishads Who has appeared in His sportive manifestation as the Son of Nanda." -Srimad Bhagavatam 1.8.21 "O Teacher of all the worlds ! Let Perils face us at every step; for it is in dangerous situations that we feel the presence of You, Whose vision bestows freedom from rebirth. -Srimad Bhagavatam 1.8.25 "No one can understand the real intentions of Your sportive actions when You simulate the ways of men in Your incarnations. None is friendly or inimical to You. You come only to redeem Jivas and even the destruction of so called enemies is only to bless them and give them salvation thereby. -Srimad Bhagavatam 1.8.29 Lord declares: "He on whom I am going to bestow My grace, I slowly deprive him of all his wealth. When his wealth is gone, his friends, kith and kin desert him, making him sink into utmost sorrow and despair." - Srimad Bhagavatam 10.88.8 When his further efforts to gain wealth also fail, thanks to My will, he becomes filled with dispassion and gets associated with My devotees. On such a one I bestow My grace." - Srimad Bhagavatam 10.88.9 "yasyAhamanugRhNami vittaM tasya harAmyaham, karoti bandhu vicchedaM sa tu duHkhena jIvati. santApeSvapi kaunteya yadi mAM na parityajet, dadAmyahaM svIya padaM devAnAmapi durlabham." (Lord Krishna gave similar message again to Arjuna in Padma Purana) "He on whom I am going to bestow My grace, I take away all his wealth, separate him from his family and friends, so that he may live his life in utter sorrow bereft of all his possessions. Though fully distressed with his material conditions, if he doesnot give up My devotion in his suffering state, I extend to that sincere devotee My own abode which is impossible to attain even by celestial beings." -------------- If we look at any genuine saint's life, like Kabir, Mirabai, Rabi'a, Ramakrishna, Tukaram, (blind poet) Suradas, Jesus, Caitanya Mahaprabhu and so on, all had their share of suffering during their period and were subjected to difficuties by the wicked. In the entire history we cannot find any genuine saint who had not suffered. ----------- Another beautiful verse given by Lord comes to my mind where suffering for the sake of Lord itself is a kind blessing from Him: In the Bhagavata Purana (10.32.30), when the Cowherdesses ACCUSE LORD KRISHNA OF CRUELTY FOR DESERTING THEM, HE ANSWERS: "I, THE EMBODIMENT OF MERCY- HOW CAN I BE CRUEL, AND ESPECIALLY TO MY DEVOTEES? NO, NEVER! MY DISAPPEARENCE IS ONLY A VEIL THAT I DRAW IN ORDER TO NOURISH YEARNING AND LOVE FOR ME BY THE FIRE OF SEPARATION. AS A POOR MAN HITTING BY CHANCE ON A TREASURE AND AGAIN LOOSING IT, IS CONSTANTLY BROODING OVER IT, SO I WISH THAT MY DEVOTEE SHOULD NOT FOR A MOMENT FORGET ME." Jaya Sri Radhey!
