Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste all.

Your message for the Day stresses the importance

of "SARANAGATI", 'SELF SURRENDER' i.e. relinquishing the ego, "I",

which is the most essential part of all SADHANAS.

Here is famous shloka on 'sharanagati', surrender unto the Lord,

given by the schools of 'Prapatti':

AnukUlyasya saGkalpaH

prAtikUlyasya varjanam

rakSiSyatIti vizvAso

goptRtve varaNaM tathA

Atma-nikSepa-kArpaNye

SaD-vidhA zaraNAgatiH

Prapatti consists in -

1. the resolution to submit, to yield to Lord's will;

2. the avoidance of opposition to the same;

3. a faith that the Lord will protect;

4. choosing of God as the one's sole saviour;

5. the sense of complete helplessness resulting in placing oneself at

His disposal and

6. the consciousness of utter abasement;

Thus there are six constituents of 'Prapatti', surrender.

In other words, 'Prapatti' means self-surrender to God's protection

and Grace which precludes all kinds of religious obligations on the

part of 'Prapanna', the surrendered devotee.

Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste all.

These selected verses are from "STOTRA RATNA",

The Hymn-Jewel of Sri Yamunacarya,

the Guru Deva of Sri Ramanuja acarya.

"O Thou worthy of being sought as refuge!

I am not the one established in dharma,

nor am I a knower of the Self!

I have no fervent devotion for Thy lotus-feet.

Utterly destitute and having none else for resort,

I take refuge under Thy feet." (22)

There is not a single despicable deed in the world

which has not been committed by me thousands of times.

O Mukunda! Now, when those deeds are fructifying,

I such a person, cry out helplessly before Thee." (23)

"O Ananta! By me, who have been sinking down

in the ocean of transmigratory existance,

Thou hast been gained as a shore;

and by Thee also, O Lord, hast been obtained now

the WORTHIEST VESSEL FOR THY MERCY." (24)

"What will possibly happen to me

that has not already befallen?

I bear everything;

for misery has become NATURAL TO ME.

But O Master! It is not WORTHY OF THEE

that those who have taken refuge in Thee

should BE DEFEATED (by the adverse sense activities and

sense objects) in their attempts to realize thee." (25)

"CONSTANTLY WAITING ON THEE ALONE,

WITH ALL OTHER DESIRES ABSOLUTELY QUENCHED-

WHEN SHALL I, AN ETERNAL SERVANT OF THINE AND

THINE ALONE, DELIGHT THEE, AS LORD OF MY LIFE?" (46)

Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste.

Sublime Verses from the 'Stotra Ratna' of Sri Yamuna Acarya

continued..

"Hearken to this the only direct entreaty of mine;

this is NOT FALSEHOOD but only TRUTH.

If Thou shalt not take PITY ON ME,

then,IT WILL BE HARD FOR THEE

to find ONE WORTHY OF THY COMPASSION." (50)

"Therefore, WITHOUT THEE I HAVE NOT MY LORD,

AND WITHOUT ME THOU HAST NOT A WORTHY

RECIPIENT FOR THY COMPASSION;

PRESERVE THIS RELATION, O LORD,

ORDAINED BY FATE, AND SPURN ME NOT! " (51)

"Whatever I might be with regard to the body

(senses, possessions, etc.,)

owing to the gunas, that let me be;

but what is denoted by my "I",

that HAS BEEN OFFERED BY ME FROM THIS VERY MOMENT,

at THY lotus-feet." (52)

"O LORD, WHATEVER I HAVE,

WHATEVER I AM, ALL THESE,

VERILY ARE THINE OWN;

ORWHAT SHALL I OFFER THEE, O MADHAVA,

BEING AWAKENED TO THE CONSCIOUSNESS

THAT ALL THESE ARE THINE OWN FIXED PROPERTY?" (53)

"AS THOU THYSELF HAST AWAKENED IN ME

THIS CONSCIOUSNESS OF BEING ETERNALLY THINE,

SO TOO, O LORD, GRANT ME OUT OF COMPASSION THAT BHAKTI

WHICH IS OF THE NATURE OF ENJOYING NONE BUT THEE." (54)

"MAY I BE BORN EVEN AS A WORM IN THE HOMES OF THOSE

WHO ARE SOLELY DEVOTED TO THE JOY OF SERVING THEE;

BUT LET ME NOT BE BORN EVEN AS THE FOUR-FACED BRAHMA

IN THE ABODES OF THOSE WHO ARE OTHERWISE DISPOSED." (55)

"THOU ALONE ART MY FATHER,

THOU ALONE ART MY MOTHER.

THOU ALONE ART MY BELOVED SON,

THOU ALONE ART MY DEAR FRIEND,

THOU ALONE ART MY CONFIDANT,AND

THOU ALONE ART THE PRECEPTOR AND

REFUGE OF THE WORLDS.

I AM THINE,

THY SERVANT,

THY ATTENDENT;

THOU ART MY GOAL;AND

I TAKE REFUGE IN THEE.

IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCE,

I AM VERILY, A BURDEN ON THEE." (60)
