Guest guest
Let the New Year shine our days with, what we think as light, and may we reach not the light but the enlightment. This is my wishes to all club members. Now coming over to "Faith", let me inform u that last evening I was having a nice chat with a lady maned "Uma". Incidently my name is "satish" , which means the husband or master of Puranic Dakshs doughter "sati".I started joking to her, because "uma" too is the name of the consort of Shiva. Without going into much detal,I say that "sati" is symbolic to "curiousity"(Jigyasa). She has to burn herself in the (again symbolic)furnes ( Ygna Agni) of "skill" (Daksha means "skillfullness"). Skills can only give birth to "curiosity". After purnic self-sacrifice by burnig herself in the yogic fire "sati" has to re-born as daughter of an unshakable "Himalayas" and named as "uma".{Incidently, only "uma" is considered as personifed "shakti", not "sati", the dauther of Daksha ) She symbolises the "surrender". Only this can be a consort of The Faith personifies as Shiva. Thus this faith is neither a "pre-conviction" nor a "superistion" but a "realisation" which is revealed in the realms of Love,Truth, and Beauty. Otherwise, just think; that a person {Yagwalkya) asks to the other {Bharadwaj) for telling the secret of Rama's story."ok", says Bharadwaj, and starts narrating the story of lord Shiva in minute details.Nevertheless, Yagwalkya listens it, and after the story ends, he starts weeping. Now Bharadwaj says,"well, I was just testing your ability to grasp the secrets of Ram's story. Well done, now I know that you are able to understand it" Then the real story of Ram starts. This is FAITH...it can not be defined..it can be beholded.Reason can answer questions, but immagination shall have to ask for it.
Sorry my post went so long.
lovely Namastey
Guest guest
In a recent interview with Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Andrew Weil and Anthony Robins, on CNN's Larry King Live Show, Dr. Chopra was asked what was the difference between faith and belief. He said, belief is something we learn from our society, and we need more and more people to believe with us to feel right. Faith is something we are born with, a sense of knowing, no matter what anyone else does or believes.

Here is my favorite story about what is faith.

A man fell of a cliff with a drop of almost 3000 ft. As he was going down at about 50 ft he grabbed hold of a tree jutting out from the side of the cliff. Looking down, he saw the fearsome fall. Terrified, he did what he had never done before. He started praying, and calling out to God. He cried HIS name and promised again and again that he would spend the rest of his life serving HIM, if only his life could be spared now.

Suddenly he heard a thunder boom in the sky and a voice called out, "Son, I will save you, just let go." Again the voice said "I will save you, just LET GO."

The man stunned, looked up at the sky and then back down at the almost 3000 ft fall below him. He turned back up at the sky and said, "Isn't anyone else up there I could talk to?"

hmmmm

TRUST and LET GO!

Tough.

_/\_ Tat twam asi

Uma
Guest guest
I have heard similar stories where people have spoken abt incidents in their lives. There was one I had heard (from someone in this club I think) abt how a shishya went to his Guru and said I want Moksha and I know u can give it to me. The Guru said, Fine but for that u need to jump from the highest peak of the Himalayas. The disciple went to the peak and thought for a while. He knew he would die. For the first time, he began doubting his Guru but then again - keeping his thoughts aside - he jumped. The Guru revived him and he (the disciple) was free.
How true the story is, I do not know? Can I do this - I do not know. But I think faith and belief can work wonders.

When they disagree they work horrors and we are double-minded in our thinking; thus we are unstable in all our ways.

vicki
