Guest guest
Dear Melanie As far as my poor observations go, this kind of classification of perceptions is hinted in Prazastapaadabhaa.sya, while it is dubious that these terms, savikalpa and nirvikalpa are used in this sense. I remember that they in this sense are used in perception chapeter of Kumarila's Zlokavaarttika. In Nyaya school, this kind of classification is clear neither in Nyaayabhaa.sya and Nyaayavaarttika. The first text where these terms are used is Jayantabha.t.ta's Nyaayama~njali, although, judging from its context, the usage of these terms can be traced back earlier that Jayanta.
