Guest guest
Dears, Yesterday(sunday), We've seen the statues along with my friend Mr.Thirupathysamy , a Journalist. Undoubtfully, they are Jinas-Thirthankaras. We 've taken few film photos and shall scan, post it shortly. 1. There were no fringe of the robe seen on the body of the two statues. And they are nude. 2. On the RHS statue (ref. The Hindu Photo), they statue was broken on the upper portion. The Dharma Chakra as claimed by Mr.Sathyamoorthy is not Chakra. It was Floral design which was clearly seen on the statue. 3. The recently discovered statues are no way connected to the inscription slab found on the nearby Agatheeswarar temple. 4. The nose of the statues are not mongoloid. The nose of the RHS statue was chipped out that too only recently. It is clearly seen. 5. Both statues has Simhasana which is also peculiar to Jinas. AFAIK, they seems to be Mahaveerasamy idols. 6. A magnificent Buddha statue was seen in the nearby place called "Buddhapet" has a robe seen around his left shoulder which distinguish from Jaina idols. I really wonder why archeology dept has said it as Buddha statues.
