Dear colleagues,

The Department of Indian Philology, Institute of

Asian and African Studies, Moscow State University,

is planning to organize an International conference

"Indian languages and literatures abroad" (ICOSALL

7). The conference is supposed to take place in

June, 13 - 15, 2006.

Our suggestions for topics at the proposed

Conference are as follows:

Indian linguistics and sociolinguistics; Indian

languages as a subject of the University education

abroad; resource material for learning Hindi and

other Indian languages; challenges of the new times

to teaching of Indian languages and literatures;

software and other technical devices for teaching

and learning Indian languages; new trends in

orthography caused by using computers; estimation of

manuals and textbooks used for teaching Indian

languages; problems of translation; influence of

European and American literature on writers of

Indian Diaspora; the role of web resources in

developing and spreading modern Indian literatures.

Unfortunately, we cannot cover the participants'

travel expenses and the price of lodging, which,

however, won't be high (around 10$ per day at the

University guest house). We shall organize coffee

and lunch during the conference.
