Dear Mr Ulrich,

In India who understand original Pali language (Esp. Buddhist community /

scholars) why would they require Sanskrit translation of Dhammapada ? This

is an important question which should be addressed before undertaking such a

translation. Moreover, our experience as a publisher (MLBD) reveals that

demand for such a work is either limited to Germany, Western Europe to some

extent or in JAPANESE academicians. If there is enough demand then we (MLBD)

would consider the project, but of course the translation has to be, in any

case, sponsored as well as thorough quality control has also to be there

before undertaking any publication. Unforunately, these days quality is

going down day by day. Why don't you post your message to other Buddhist

sites & web-mails ?

Regards

RP Jain
