sudhi + upAsya results in more than one outcomes. One of them by applying

'anaci ca' gives us optional dvitva : sudh-dh-y + upAsya. This 'dh' is furthur

modified by 'jhalaam jash jhashi' to yield sud-dhy + upAsya.

The Idea behind 'anaci ca' is Vowel + 'yar' phoneme + non-Vowel leads to 'yar'

duplication

Is 'anaci ca' only applicable for 'u' + 'dh' + 'y'. Why not for 'A' + 's'( a

'yar' phoneme ) + 'y' in 'upAsya' leading to duplication of 's' and giving us

the form 'suddhyupAssya' amongst others.

I am asking this because thats how my Sandhi Software is responding as it scans

the entire string to find the pattern(Vowel + <yar> phoneme + non-Vowel>. Pls

tell me if it shouldnt be like that.

Another Related Question. Is the same approach applicable for 'jhalaam jash

jhashi' , 'stoH schUnA schuH' and the rest. That is , scan a string character

by character and if u see the pattern anywehre apply jhalaam etc in the middle

or anywhere.

Sincerely,

Chetan
