Dear list, can anyone recommend to me a hostel for students, or something

similar, in Pune, which is inexpensive and known to scholars who spend time

in that city?

Thank you, Yogesh. I don't know the city at all yet, have never been there,

and in fact this will be my first time in India. It has by now become very

embarrassing to have to admit that I have never been there, but it has not

been for lack of trying. I know some people at BORI through whom I hope

to get in touch with scholars with whom to read sanskrit, and hopefully

also begin to speak it, beginning by speaking about the texts in question

during reading, I guess, though I have a bad feeling that I will not find

the transition to spoken sanskrit easy. So I do not know where in the city

I shall be based. I have been told of a hotel opposite the main train station

that is run by Bahais. Perhaps I shall spend some time there as well as

at the places you mention. I hope to be there until september, and to leave

as soon as possible.

Phillip
