Guest guest
Dear Sasank, The answer of your question is actually a very difficult one as there is little we know for sure about Ferdinand de Saussure and quite a lot of mythology about his work and life. There might be some reliable evidence in the letters he wrote while preparing his PhD (titled "De l'emploi du g'enitif absolu en sasnscrit") in Leipzig. A recent publication you may find in Cahier de l'Herne Ferdinand de Saussure, “Lettres de Leipzig, 1875-1880.", 2003 by Éditions de l'Herne (ISBN : 2-85197-092-5) Regards, Biliana Müller Arbeitsstelle für Semiotik Technische Universität Berlin ----- Original Nachricht ---- Von: sasanksekharmohanty <sasanksekharmohanty An: INDOLOGY Datum: 21.05.2005 23:38 Betreff: [Y-Indology] Sanskrit philosophy & Saussure. > Dear All, > > I am interested in a comparative discussion on ancient Sanskrit > linguists Patanjali and Bhartrhari's philosophy of language with the > language theories of Ferdinand de Saussure.
