Guest guest
Dear List: I am looking for a modern work, preferably in English or Hindi which focusses on prakriyas. This work should show the rupa-sidhi of padas listing the various sutras in a neat mathematical form just like in algebra where everything is shown step-by step. I am not referring to works like the Kaumudis because they carry too much detail. I want something designed for quick reference and shouldnt make me strain for searching . An example will be, Rupa-Sidhi of pathati paTh bhUvAdayo dhAtavaH paTh + laT vartamane Lat path + la halantyam; tasya itaH paTh + l updeshe achaanunAsika it paTh + l lasya; tip-tas-jhi-....-vahi-mahing; shashthi sthane yoga laH parasmaipadam tangAnau Atmanepadam....eka-shesh adhikAra AkaDArAt ekA sanjna tingas tInI tInI pratham.... tanyehavacana.. yusmadyupapade asmadyuuttamaH sheshe prathamah paTh + tip halantyam paTh + ti etc......... The ideal book will be full of pages such as above with maximum attention given to the tabular form with a ready-reference appeal. The Ashtadhyayi Translation by Ram Nath Sharma has a huge appendix devoted to derivational History but its chief disadvaantage is it in not tabular like above and you have to spend time reading which makes it very complicated. Sincerely, Chetan Pandey PS: Book-Sellers on the List, I will appreciate your feedback also as I prefer recieving books at home. Take Mail with you!
