Guest guest
nidhay seems to be a term coined for translating an English original. Any idea when the map was made? rajesh kochhar )))))))))))))) Allen W Thrasher spshrm ; INDOLOGY Saturday, January 15, 2005 5:06 AM [Y-Indology] Geographical Query Artur, Could mahAdvIpIy nidhAy mean "continental divide"? We have one in the US, but I hadn't heard the term in reference to India. It's a matter of a line dividing the direction in which the rivers flow. In India such a thing could be in the Vindhyas (E-W), or between the Ganges-Jumna system and the Five Rivers, I should think. The Wikipedia says that the term is not limited to that in North America, but is applied elsewhere, though I can't see that it discusses the South Asian subcontinent. Or could it refer to continental plates or their junctures? At what latitude and longitude is it? Allen Allen W.
