As Marathi teaching material is still quite scarce, I hope it might be interesting. All the best, Sonja Stark-Wild `Learning Marathi as a Foreign Language' Module I and Module II `Learning Marathi as a Foreign Language' is divided into two parts. Module I primarily concentrates on the script and pronunciation; whereas Module II essentially contains the basic syntactic structures and the conversational patterns in Marathi. This project envisages a wide range of users including foreign students and scholars interested in learning Marathi as an area of linguistic, cultural, religious studies and in carrying out research in this field. Module I provides : Material to practise characters in Devnagri script and sounds of Marathi along with vocabulary and morphological indicators, verbal translation into English, the minimal necessary grammar, exercises and key to the exercises. Audio aid to all the main texts and selected exercises for practising pronunciation. Tables with signs for vowels, consonants, half consonants and vowel combination. And examples for pronunciation. Module I (Rs. 300/- outside India 20/- Dollars or 20,- Euro + postage) Module II provides : 21 small Units, grammar topics significant for a foreign learner, exercises in different modes, vocabulary with additional user friendly markers , wordstudy introducing usages peculiar to Marathi, translations of main texts, key to exercises, appendices with culturalinformation, glossary. Special features : Audio Aid in form of a CD, Declension of variable forms with untraditional parameters, simple dialogues and texts embedded in day-to-day situations. Module II (Rs. 400/- outside India 25/- Dollars or 25,- Euro + postage) [ The author of this book Dr. Neeti Badwe is Professor in German at the University of Pune, India. She has a long standing experience in teaching German as a Foreign Language, both at the graduate and post-graduate level. She has also been teaching Marathi as a Foreign Language since more than 15 years, mainly to American and German students. A contrastive study of phonetic, syntactic and cultural aspects forms the basis for structuring this book and designing exercises.
