Guest guest
Dear Sanskritists, What is literal meaning of sphijaikena? The context is mRdvAsane sphijaikena hastapadau nirAzrayaM nidhAya ... (VijJAnabhairava.78) The problem is that translation as .... with single buttock on a soft seat .... would require sphij to be masciline or neuter (while MW. says it is fem.) so that sphijaikena might be resolved into sphijaa-ekena two instr. cases having gender agreement. Thanks in advance, Dmitri.
