Guest guest
I was pleasantly surprised to note that there is a movie being made on Panini. Hopefully there is a scene or two on the art of the anuvrtti. Even more surprised to note that there is going to be one on the Tamil grammarian, tolkAppiar. At the outset, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful hospitality and cooperation you had extended to us during our visit there. The documentary film on Panini was made as part of a series on Indian Grammatical Traditions for the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, a Central Government organisation. The film has been completed just a couple of days ago. The duration of the film is 28 mts., and it is meant for telecast on the Bhasha Mandakini channel, which is yet to be launched by the central government. I would be honored if you would accept a copy of the film as soon as I receive permission to send you the copy. Because, the copyright belongs to the Government of India, and I am bound by an agreement to get their permission in order to be able to show the film privately. I request you to kindly bear with me on this. Sir, in the film, we have used a small portion of the interview that you have given us, because of time constraint. However, the CIIL has accepted that we do a separate episode on Ganakashtadhyayi, for which I will be editing the interview with you and making a special programme on learning Panini through the Ganakashtadhyayi. But because of other reasons, this will not happen immediately, but perhaps in a couple of months. As soon as this edit is ready, I will positively send you a copy of the same. I would like to once again reiterate my grateful appreciation for your kind help and cooperation when we visited you. Your passion for Panini was a great inspiration to me in making the documentary film. It is once again an inspiration for my next project, which is a documentary on the great Tamil grammarian, Tolkappiyar. Please excuse the delay in being able to communicate these messages to you. I trust and hope you will receive this mail in the best of health.
