moksamargasya netaram bhettaram karmabhubhrtam

jñataram visvatattvanam vande tadgunalabdhaye

 

UVASAGGAHARAM THOTTAM

 

A simple English translation

 

O Parshva, destroyer of all adversities, completely free of thickly

entrenched karmas; destroyer of the poison of poisonous creatures;

you are home to all that is auspicious and noble; I bow to you.

 

This mantra is like a mass of light that destroys (the darkness of)

poison; the fears of evil planets, diseases, deadly enemies and old

age shall forever subside for the person who constantly recites this

mantra.

What of reciting the mantra, even bowing to you in obeisance results

in great merits and frees humans and all other sentient beings from

grief and rebirth in the infernal realms.

 

Attaining you (your shelter), is like attaining Cintamani, the

wish-fulfilling gem, and Kalpavriksha, the wish-fulfilling tree. Those

who do so, achieve the eternal immortal state of moksha unimpeded.

 

O great and exalted one! I perform this stuti (adoration) with a heart

full of devotion. Deva Parshvanath, exalted amongst the Jinas, grace

me with correct understanding forever and ever.

 

Om, Kalpavriksha, the celestial cow Kamadhenu, Cintamani, the

wish-fulfilling pitcher Kamakumbha, and all other sources of

happiness and pleasure become servants of he who becomes the

servant of Shri Parshvanath.

 

Victory to the compassionate Guru Bhadrabahu, who composed

this Uvasaggahara Thotta for the spiritual well being of the sangha

(order of society).
