It is sometimes problem with the reprints that we forget when the text was actually written. Long ago, someone was finding fault in H. H. Wilson's ideas of Indian history, because he ignored the Indus civilisation. So he did, but so what? He died in 1860. BTW, Dowson's Canakyasutra perhaps refers to some version of the Canakyaniti tradition, later studied by Sternbach.
