If this term is in use, it may be available in the Dictionary of Linguistics. Regards. Narayan Prasad alexandra_108 <alexandra_108 wrote: What is the "inacutive gender"? Guest guest
I found the passage in "A Bird on the Wing - Life and Teachings of Sri Ma Anandamayi" by Bithika Mukerji, chapter 3: The Manifestation of Shakti as Sadhana, page 55 footnote 2 "Sri Ma always used the inascutive gender when speaking about herself, so we have written sAdhaka instead of sAdhIkA". Note: Sri Ma seems to have spoken in Hindi. Alexandra narayan prasad <prasad_cwprs wrote: Please quote the passage where you have come across such term. Guest guest
In the earlier message you mentioned "inacutive gender", but in this one you have written "inascutive gender". Could you confirm the actual term used ? Whatever be the actual grammatical term in English, I understand from the context along with the example cited that all it means is nothing but using the masculine form in place of a feminine one for the feminine gender. This point has been discussed by Panini under sUtras 6.3.34-42. I hope, the matter is clear to you. Regards. Guest guest
I think it must be a misprint for 'masculine'.
