Guest guest
I believe it is a verse from the Adhyathma Ramayana. I don't have the book with me now, so cannot verify it or point out the exact location of the verse in the text. The Adhyatma Ramayana is a late addition to the Brahmanda Purana with a retelling of Ramayana from an advaitic viewpoint. ______________________ ______________________ Message: 1 Wed, 9 Jun 2004 16:23:20 -0700 Robert Goldman <sseas Query Dear List Members: Does anyone know the source of the following verse? api svarNamayI laGkA na me lakSmaNa rocate| jananI janmabUmiz ca svargAd api garIyasI Bankim , I believe, quotes the second half in Anandamath and I am told that it is inscribed on the entrance of the Dakshineshwar Temple of Calcutta built by Rani Rasmoni, where Sri Ramakrishna served as priest. An IAS officer in West Bengal has asked me about the (half) verse and I have not been able to trace it to a text of the RAmAyaNa. ______________________ ______________________ ------ ------
