The verbal root "vi *dah" is found (and probaly elsewhere) in Ogihara's Skt-Jap dictionary -- a work sadly little known outside of Japan -- with precisely this meaning "to burn [up completely]" etc. Hope this goes some way to help you. The suffix -in is used here as a verbal suffix with strengthening of the root (cf., e.g., pat, paatin "flyin, falling"): vidaahin "burning"; -vidaahine is dat. sing. (to be connected with "sriigurave). vi- as a prefix to verbs expresses (1) "division", "distribution" etc., (2) the opposite to the idea contained in the root, (3) intensification.
