Guest guest
There is a careful discussion of uccatana in: Goudriaan, Teun Maya divine and human Delhi : Motilal Banarsidass 1978 p. 351-364, also other places; see Index under "eradication" and "uccatana." Goudriaan says the explanations in the original tradition are somewhat vague, and translates the word as "eradication" partly for that very reason. Examples of it are destruction or removal of large physical objects like mountains, driving people away from home and society, and driving them insane. Goudriaan's book is of highly useful for understanding the less elevated forms of tantrism, and magic (indrajala, jadugari). Indeed, it is primarily about the satkarma which Artur Karp mentions. It is still in print, according to the publisher's web site <www.mlbd.com>. Allen Allen W.
