What is the name of the device he uses whereby identical sequences of syllables appear in a single verse but must be divided up differently to produce different words, or else the very same syllables have a different meaning in each occurrence? Also, in 4:27 atyaji appears twice in the second hemistich. It's plain that the second is an aorist passive, but the first can't be the same word. The commentator Rajakaratnakantha doesn't gloss it. I absolutely can't imagine what it is, unless it could be a neuter singular accusative adverb formed from the adjective in in (yet I would expect atyagin, not atyajin), and meaning 'while not abandoning [the game] with your brothers'. But I'm sure this is wrong, have no reaason to think it's right, except that I can't think of any other solution. Any personal thoughts on this mahakavya would be welcome, too.
