Dear group members,

Kindly allow me to bother you with some questions.

I would like to know more about the Sadosh-Matrikas and their connection with

the Sanskrit vowels.

As far as I know, the Sadosh-Matrikas are Gauri, Padma, Shachi (Saci), Medha,

Savitri, Jaya, Vijaya, Devasana, Svaha, Svadha, Matri (Mataro), Lokamatar

(Lokamatarah), Dhriti (Hrstih), Pushti (Pustistatha), Tushti (Tusti), and Kul

Devata (Atmakuladevata).

There are sixteen Sadosh-Matrikas, but fifteen Sanskrit vowels.

Among the Sadosh-Matrikas, there is one named “Gauri”.

“Gauri” is another name of Parvati.

My theory is that Gauri is not actually a Matrika but Parvati Devi, who is

surrounded by the fifteen Matrikas like Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari is

surrounded by the fifteen Nitya-Devis in the Sri Yantra.

Am I right or wrong?

Which of the fifteen Matrika-Devis is connected with which of the vowels?

Is there a Yantra of the Sadosh-Matrikas?

I have great interest in this subject and would be most grateful for some help

and information.

Kind regards,

Alexandra Kafka (Ms.)
