Guest guest
Hello friends, I just discovered this group on Google in search of Prof. Ashok Aklujkar. I recently embarked on a web project to create a line-by-line translation of a condensed version of the Guru Gita which I have been chanting regularly for the past 20 or so years. I would love to receive anyone's feedback on the project. The Sanskrit is quite clear in the majority of the verses, however there are a few, such as v. 40 that have me quite baffled. You can view the project at the following URL: http://www.pranakasha.com/guru_gita/intro.shtml The main goal of this project is to provide a line-by-line and when possible, word-by-word translation so that aspirants can study and chant this text and immediately conjure the meaning of the pronounced Sanskrit words in their mind. Naturally, this produces a lot of non-standard English constructions, but it is suprising how well this chant lends itself to this attempt in most cases. I studied Sanskrit at the University of Washington in the early 90's using Prof. Aklujkar's text books and still find them incredibly useful today, especially the orange "Volume One, Tools: Grammitical, Part B" from "Sanskrit an Easy Introduction to an Enchanting Language". If anyone has Prof. Aklujkar's contact info, I would love to get a hold of him...
