Guest guest
Greetings all, I'm new here. Does anybody know of any good sources on the Ekalavya story, Mahabharata 1.123? There are brief discussions in Bimal Matilal's 'Krsna: in defense of a devious divinity' (in Sharma (ed.), 'Essays on the Mahabharata', Leiden 1991) and Robert Goldman's 'Esa dharmah sanatanah: shifting moral values and the Indian epics' (in Bilimoria and Mohanty (eds), 'Relativism, suffering and beyond', Delhi 1997), but, apart from a couple of Indian novels based on the story, the only extended treatment I am currently aware of is S. Shankar's 'The thumb of Ekalavya: postcolonial studies and the 'third world' scholar in a neocolonial world' (in 'World Literature Today' no. 68.4, 1994). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Simon Brodbeck.
