Guest guest
I have past I have attempted to do some automated fitting to decide a chronology. That led me to think of probabilistic analysis of historical theories. I was told by someone that some work on statistical analysis of historical evidence exists. I am looking for techniques that would algorithmicaly weigh conflicting theories (perhaps requiring iterative evaluations), rather than rely entirely on personal judgement. Can anyone suggest some suitable references? Yashwant

It looks at the chance or probability of certain words in two different languages looking alike. I have not yet checked the rigor of the probability assumptions. http://www.zompist.com/chance.htm best regards.
