Guest guest
Can anyone recommend books that study the nature of ideas about history, and of belief in historical 'facts' and events, in India ancient and modern? I am interested in the difference between ancient and modern Indians' attitudes to the 'truth' of religious narratives, and especially in the ways in which Indians' attitude to history may have changed in response to a new conception of history brought by the Muslims, whose religious myth was perhaps on a very much more 'thiswordly' level than that of the Indians.
