Guest guest
Dear Members I am now reading Nyaayavaarttika. In Nyaayavaarttika under NS 1. 1. 5, I have found the discussion as follows: if naantariiyaka and artha have the same case (saamaanaadhikaraNa), the compound "naantariiyakaartha" is semantically unconnected (asamartha). Because the relation between vizeSaNa and vizeSya is impossible. On the condition that both of the two word are semantically divergent (vyabhicaara), they can have the same case. For example, the case of "blue lotus (niilotpala)." (Calcutta Skt. Series Nyaayadarzana, pp. 161 - 162) The above discussion seems to be based on the following view. The relation of the same case needs the semantical divergence (vyabhicaara) of the both words. Or, The relation of vizeSaNa and VizeSya needs such a mutter. I can not find another parallel discussion or view. But Acaryazrii Raamaprasaada TripaaThii give me the next information in his Book PaaNiniiyavyaakaraNe PramaaNasamiikSaa "sambhavavyabhicaaraabhyaaM syaad vizeSaNam arthavat" is a popular rule. But he doesn't show its source. If anyone know the source which is quoted in TripaaThii's book, or another parallel discussion to Nyaayavaarttika, please teach me.
