Guest guest
Last Friday the Kanithamizh Sangam, Chennai hosted a 3 days IT exhibitions. Among others, Tamil OCR and a New Tamil Software compatible to the Windows XP platform has been launched Here is a note from Dr V Krishnamoorthy, profvk@s..., We are happy to inform that PonVizhi, the first version of Tamil OCR has been launched in the recent Tamil Computer Exhibition held during 7-9, December,2001. The following keyboards are supported. 1. Tamil99, 2. Enhanced Typewriter keyboard as standardised by TamilNadu Govt, and 3. a transliteration scheme. It gives the output in TAM or TAB. The user will be given an option to specify his font scheme also. In this case the only thing is that the user should have his own editor or keyboard driver to do the final editing. PonMozhi's spell check is included in two ways. As a normal spell check, and as a special version which will make some corrections automatically. The current version works well with printed books.
