Guest guest Posted December 8, 2001 Report Share Posted December 8, 2001 Jarl Charpentier's 1927 paper in Indian Antiquary connects the meaning and etymology of puujaa with 'smearing,' the smearing of images etc with things like red powders etc. Is there a more convincing understanding of the history of this word?
