Guest guest
Dear members and devotees, I understand that Sri Ramana put enphasis in having a sattvic eating habit, for it helps develop a sattvic mind, and that in turn help the practice of self-enquiry. However, there are many more habits that help to develop a sattvic mind. For instance: going to sleep and waking up early; practicing meditation early in the morning; moderation or even abstinence in sex; leading a well regulated life; refraning from engagig in unnecessary worldly activities; having cold showers; keeping a vow of silence, etc. Is there any reason why Bhagavan did not enjoin this things also? Sometimes I feel like doing a vow of silence, put Sri Ramana expressely discouraged such a thing. Also I`ve taken a vow of brahmacharya because I felt ready for it and it was quite natural, altough Sri Raman never advised that. My question is: am I going "agains" Bhagavan`s teachings when doing this? Or can I trust that anything that helps me develop a sattiv mind is in accordance with His teachings and would be approved by Him? Of course, my goal is also to make easier to practice self-enquiry, and to be able to stay more in the Self once I reach it through a set meditation. Forgive my poor english and my begginer`s questions. Yours in Bhagavan, Giovanni
