It was the early days of Ramanasramam. An out-of-town well-wisher had

only heard about Bhagavan Shri. Ramana Maharshi and had not seen Him.

And, since he did not get to see Ramanar for a long time, the day he

got that opportunity, he rushed to Thiruvannamalai.

With great excitement, he came within the boundaries of the Asramam

and asked a few people: 'Where is Ramanar? Where is Ramanar?'. Not

many buildings and not many people were there in Ramanasramam those

days. It did not take long for him to end up in the Old Hall which is

where Bhagavan resided normally. But it was Bhagavan's stroll time so

He was not to be found there at that time. Again he asked the few

people he met there in an excited tone: 'Where is Ramanar? Where is

Ramanar?' A devotee showed him the path going behind the Asramam

where Bhagavan had gone for a walk. Our traveler eagerly ran out in

that path.

By this time Bhagavan had gone into the kitchen in his usual walk

back to view the happenings there. Our traveller eventually came back

into the kitchen but he saw four or five people standing there

inside. Poor man, didn't know who Bhagavan was among them. He was not

sure if he can ask them. Hesitantly, he came a little closer to them,

watched each of them carefully and chose one person whose face seemed

friendly enough and good natured.

to be continued.....
