Guest guest
Avril, You make good points. My posting was made out of frustration at myself (and most of the world) not 'behaving' as a realized one in spite of the intellectually understanding of it. Though the teaching of Sri Ramana & Vedanta are just that 'you are not the doer' etc., it is still not WIDELY put in practice in the world. The number of realized souls is still small. Hence my lamenting and the guru bashing. Your quote of Sri Ramana related to 'not awakening the dream characters after waking up' is again not good news for people like me & other'dream characters'. sundar The message 'You are not the doer. In fact, there is no 'you' as a separate entity' is a very powerful one. I find it very strange that it is not well explained & sold to people. LOL If there is no "you", to whom is it to be sold? It is atrange that NO ONE has succeeded in driving home the message to a significant section of the public. On the contrary. What else is the meaning of Advaita? -Not-Two. I do not think this happened even in Sri Ramana's times. The core of Ramana's teaching is just this. The advantages are simply enormous: We can go through life without any mental strain. The quality of work performed will be so much better. There will be no wars & conflicts, since there will be no personal motives and agendas. Even when things do not go well, there will be no sadness. etc. etc. If there is one small village where everyone is taught the message from birth and acts accordingly, it would serve as a model village for all others to copy. The negation of the sense of personal doership is not a copying of an intellectual premise. Or a transmtting of it from one to the other. It is the cessation of the very sense of the "me", for the "me" is nothing but this very sense of personal doership. With the cessation of the sense of the "me", can the sense of the "you" remain? Without the sense of the "you", can there remain a sense of even the world, let alone someone to be taught this advantageous premise? Ramana was once asked, "Since you are an enlightened being, why don't you just wave your hand and make everybody enlightened?" Ramana's reply is so beautiful, so complete....he replied "When you wake up from a sleep, do you go about searching for the dreamed-up characters, in order to awaken them?" If a teaching is to be taught, then the "to-be-taught" continues to exist for you. And if the "to-be-taught" exists, the "teacher-me" exists. The personal stake exists. And the sleep-dream is not yet over. Love Avril Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Messenger
